The active volcano and the Blue Lagoon tour take you on a ride to the active Geldingadalir valley volcano and the depths of relishing artificial phenomenons. The visit also takes you through mossy lava fields, breath taking coastal features, and other natural splendors.
On the tour you will be going from Reykjavik to Reykjanes Peninsula. The peninsula is known for true volcanic wonders. You can find everything from mossy lava fields, geothermal areas and geysers, fishing villages, open rift zones, coastal cliffs and endless of volcanic craters. Since March 2021 you can also witness the active volcano erupting.
Reykjanes lies on one of the world’s major plate boundaries, in between the tectonic plates of Eurasia and North America. The plates are drifting apart, resulting in open fissures and volcanic activity.
The tour takes you on a hike across the Fagradalsfjall volcano lava fields and the warm waters of the Blue lagoon which offers a unique geothermal experience.
Lets take a look at what you will experience on this tour.
Lake Kleifarvatn

Kleifarvatn is renowned as the largest lake in Reykjanes Peninsula with shifting tectonic plates and underwater hot springs. The bubbling warm water coming through these springs is a sight to see. Mountains, sculpted rock formations, and black basalt beaches surround Kleifarvatn.
Fagradalsfjall Volcano

Fagradalsfjall is an active volcano located on Reykjanes Peninsula, not too far from Reykjavík. The sight of the active volcano is something you can cherish for a life time. It is not that often that you can witness an erupting volcano and see the hot lava flow just a couple of meters from you. This experience is simply magical.
You will be hiking to the active volcano with our experienced volcano guide. See the new lava flow into the old. In this tour the volcanic- and geothermal activity of Iceland make this a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Note that the difficulty level of the hike is medium. The distance of the hike varies since the route is always changing because the lava changes its directions every day. The longest hike has been around 7 kilometers.
Grindavík Fishing Village

Driving towards the Grindavík fishing village through the southern peninsula, you would come across the amalgamation of lava fields and the Atlantic Ocean. The settlement is a primary fishing harbor of the country and the best place to understand Icelandic fishing culture and dining experience.
The Grindavík fishing village provides 50% of Iceland’s salt fish production, and 3,300 residents have fishing or related livelihoods. The place is also popular as the country’s most active harbor for the same reasons. So, you can enjoy gushing water flows, relax & rejuvenate, or have a fish dining experience in this village.
Blue Lagoon

We will end the tour at the popular Blue lagoon. Many people say that you can’T go to Iceland without visiting the Blue Lagoon. The experience is just as good as you might think and you are definitely in for a treat at the Blue Lagoon.
The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa and resort, known in Iceland as Bláa Lónið. The lagoon has become an immensely popular modern wonder since the first visit in 1976, and the artificial phenomenon is supplied with a geothermal water plant. Although the formation of the Blue Lagoon Company took place in 1992, the site was primarily a bathing and relaxation ground between 1971 and 1981. The lagoon is manmade with the water being fed in through a local Geothermal water plant that supplied hot water to the nearby towns.
After our visit to the Blue Lagoon we will be heading back to Reykjavik in the evening. After this full day of hiking, active volcanoes, hot springs and spa you will be sure to sleep well.
